APRIL FOOLS? - 100 WORDS - FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE 2019

How about this? For April / May, try writing a Flash Fiction piece of 100 words. We’ll go longer after this. Too many of these micro-shorts can addle the writer but they are great discipline.

The aim is to delight, to chip out a sculpture from a lump of stone.

You can read some of our writers' stories or submit your story on the FLASH FICTION section of the COMPETITIONS page of www.worldwriterscollective.com

Tips:

  • Make the title sweat its short life.

  • Jump right in. Names may not be necessary.

  • The denouement should be in the middle. Leave the reader something to think about at the end.

A final word: writing micro-fiction is for some, like holidaying in a caravan. Refreshing, stimulating for a change. But not for the rest of your life.
